Attendance

At Lostock High we take a whole-school approach to improving time keeping.  A summary of our Attendance Policy can be located at the bottom of this page.

Pupils need to attend school regularly to benefit from their education.  Missing out on lessons leaves children vulnerable to falling behind.

Children with poor attendance tend to achieve less in school.

Absence can only be authorised by the school and cannot be authorised by parents.

Daily Operations

Registration begins at 8.30am, with a first bell sounding at 8.25am.

Our mantra of #Don'tBeLate.BeInFor8.28 ensures that students are ready to begin schooling promptly at 8.30am.

The school gates close at 8.30am after which time students are directed towards reception to sign in.

Our attendance office will then record the names of students who are late, and create a text message alert to parents/carers.

Illness

If your child is too unwell to attend school, please call 0161 864 5743 or email attendance@lostock.trafford.sch.uk

Please let us know details of the illness and whether you have arranged any medical appointments.

Please make contact before 8.30am and remember to call for every day of absence.

We look forwards to working together to solve any barriers to good school attendance which your child may face.

What are the sanctions for students who are late to school?

Stage 1

A student arriving between 1 and 14 minutes late, will be required to stay behind for 15 minutes.

Stage 2

A student arriving between 15 and 29 minutes late, will be required to stay behind for 30 minutes.

Stage 3

If a student arrives more than 30 minutes late, they will be required to stay behind for 60 minutes on the same day.

Please note these absences will be recorded as unauthorised, with 10 unauthorised absences resulting in an attendance fine.
