Professional Background

I have spent over 40 years as an accountant in various roles and various industries; my later career was within the Department of Education (DfE) though I am now retired from full time work.

My DfE roles encompassed Teacher Training provider assurance, Academy governance and intervention in all its various aspects, and grant assurance ensuring expenditure was in line with the terms and conditions.

Why I Became a Governor

It was suggested at the DfE that we become school governors to get a different perspective of the impact of DfE policies and directives. From my professional viewpoint I thought I could assist schools be compliant with DfE expectations and also add to the wider governor upskilling.

I have been a school governor for over 20 years in various schools covering Primary, Academy Special School, and now Secondary education

What I Hope to Contribute

My background in finance allows me to support the Governing Body with budget planning, resource allocation, and review. I am particularly interested in ensuring the school makes the most effective use of its funding to benefit all pupils and remains up to date with DfE policies and procedures.
Interests & Community Links
Outside of work and governance, I am a church treasurer and enjoy long walks in the local countryside.
Message to Parents/Carers
I am committed to working with the school leadership team and governors to ensure Lostock High School continues to provide an excellent education and opportunities for all our young pupils to go on to enjoy a good future.
