Professional Background |
|
I qualified as a mathematics teacher in 1998. For the last 23 years I have worked for an independent organisation, delivering bespoken programmes of support to vulnerable young people, especially those with Special Educational Needs (SEND) and Looked After Children (LAC), i.e. children who are in the care of their local authority. Currently, I am the Greater Manchester Team Manager, and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). |

Why I Became a Governor |
|
|
I became a Governor as I am passionate about supporting the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) at Lostock High School to achieve their vision of creating a supportive community where all pupils are nurtured and encouraged to flourish and achieve their full potential. I am that ‘critical friend’, not afraid to challenge in a positive manner, provide constructive criticism and praise the achievements that enable the pupils to achieve personal and educational success. |

What I Hope to Contribute |
|
| Supporting the SLT to ensure the school's safeguarding policies and procedures are implemented correctly and effectively, is important, including issues within the wider community that may impact pupils who attend the school. I am particularly interested in ensuring the school makes the most effective use of its funding for pupils with SEND, so they are not disadvantaged when compared with pupils who have no SEND. | |
| Interests & Community Links | |
| Outside of work and governance, I spend most evenings supporting my two children, who both attend Lostock High School, with their extracurricular activities. I am also a Club Welfare Officer for a local Trampoline Club that my children attend. | |
| Message to Parents/Carers | |
| To the parents and carers, I am committed to working with the SLT to ensure all pupils who attend Lostock High School can achieve educational success, so they are ready to move onto the next chapter of their journey into adulthood. |
